K K Maheshwari, the sector head - fibres and textiles, at the Indian multinational conglomerate the Aditya Birla Group, has told Twist how his company intends to keep forging ahead with research and development to project a leading market position at home and abroad. Speaking in his Mumbai office, K K Maheshwari explained how the US$4.1 billion global leader in viscose staple fibre (VSF), with a market share of 21%, was not taking its position for granted. Maheshwari manages the group's fibre and textile business across the value chain - from plantations to pulp, fibre to yarn, and fabrics. He is credited with making the VSF business competitive and sustainable well before sustainability became an industry buzzword.
