GLORY: A cruising-racing yawl by Sparkman & Stephens

Atrue classic, created under Cruising Club of America's (CCA) measurement rule to win races, in which she excelled, GLORY and her sisters also made outstanding cruisers because of their shallow draft, wide decks, and spacious interiors. Think of her as an enlargement of the famous yawl FINISTERRE. GLORY is just too good, and has come too far, to fade away; she cries out for completion of the major upgrade that a former owner abandoned. Her hull work is essentially complete, with new and repaired frames and floors, new aft backbone timbers, several new planks, and a complete refastening. What remains, although fussy, is well within a skilled amateur's ability and amounts mostly to building a new interior, the old one having been stripped out for access and then discarded. A new, more cruiser-friendly arrangement plan has been drawn up, and the cabin sole and major bulkheads shown on it are already in place.
