Runabout Restoration: New life for a varnished classic, Part 2

In the previous issue (WB No. 246) we discussed a Shepherd runabout restoration project, the specific work outlined, the plan of attack, and took the work through to the completion of the bottom reconstruction. With the bottom work completed and painted, and with the boat returned to right-side up, we can begin working on the topsides restoration. This woodwork, which will be stained and varnished, is much more visible than the painted bottom planking, and there is zero room for error. The fits must be exact! This is a much more challenging and fun stage of the restoration.
