A Fine COMPANERA

Our coverage of COMPANERA, the sturdy motorsailer depicted on the cover of this issue, began from a distance at the Port Townsend (Washington) Wooden Boat Festival last September. I was sharing a meal with Bruce Halabisky and Tiffany Loney, recently returned circumnavigators (see WB No. 246), at Sirens, a pub-style restaurant with an incomparable view of Port Townsend Bay. Among the numerous moored boats and vessels glowing in the twilight that evening was a distinctive-looking dragger-style yacht. Bruce and Tiffany had visited aboard her earlier in the day and met the owners, Jill Fredston and Doug Fesler.
