Six Biographic Sketches of John A. Roebling

John A. Roebling (1806-1869) was the founder of the wire rope industry in the USA. He also established a New Jersey manufacturing company in 1849 that thrived until 1973. He personally designed and supervised the construction of at least a dozen significant bridges. Unfortunately, there is no published biography providing accurate details of his life. To make matters worse, several inaccurate and imaginary versions have been published. This essay is the first of six short chronologies intended to summarize attainments of this brilliant man.
