WILLIAM AND NANCY KLAMM SERVICE AWARD FOR 2017:E. DALE KENNEDY

Most professional societies function well because of the time and energy of many members. To recognize the sustained efforts of its members, the Wilson Ornithological Society created the William and Nancy Klamm Service Award. This award is given annually to a member of the Society who exemplifies the legacy of commitment to the Society shown by the Klamms, who generously supported the Society with both their time and energy and with a substantial financial bequest. Bill served as the Treasurer for five years from 1968-1972, and then both he and Nancy served on the Auditing Committee in the 1970s and 1980s. Bill's skill and efforts were particularly important as he shepherded the Society through an audit by the IRS in 1969. This year's recipient has been a staunch advocate of and tireless worker to support students through the Society's activities.
