Turlock Paves the Way for Major Highway Construction Project

In 1994, the City of Turlock annexed land in the northwest quadrant of the city for a commercial attraction along State Highway 99, a major north-south freeway within the Central Valley. Within this annexed area was Monte Vista Avenue, a narrow county road that was designated in the General Plan as a major east-west arterial roadways. Monte vista is also the major entrance to the northern section of the city and the gateway to California State University, Stanislaus.
