AN UPDATE ON THE LEAGUE's ETHICS EDUCATION TASK FORCE

One of the League's strategic goals for 2002-03 is to promote public confidence in local government, particularly city government. 4s one of its strategies to accomplish this goal, the board formed an Ethics Education Task Force to evaluate and make recommendations on the League's current ethics education offerings for local elected and appointed officials. Former League President John Russo appointed me to chair the task force, because ethics in public service has been a longstanding interest of mine. The task force comprises elected and appointed city officials, representatives of the private sector and academicians. City officials may have encountered task force members at various League conferences; these were the individuals sporting yellow "Talk to Me About Ethics Education" buttons.
