Proposition 1A's Impact Is Growing: 2006-07 Holds Promise for Mandate Reimbursement

You never know what to expect once a statewide proposition is passed. At least as it relates to reimbursement of unfunded mandates, Proposition 1A is giving cities a real boost. Here are a few of its impacts. While the state budget was not final when this article went to press, cities should receive some relief in the FY 2006-07 budget. Buoyed by the governor's "May Revise" to the budget, the legislative Budget Conference Committee had approximately $238 million on the table to consider for reimbursing prior year and current year claims.
