EWI Performs Weld Development in Oxide Dispersion Strengthened Alloys

Edison Welding Institute (EWI) and team partners Foster Wheeler Development Corp., University of California — San Diego, Special Metals Corp., and Oak Ridge National Laboratory are investigating the use of oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) alloys for a high-temperature heat exchanger under a contract through the Department of Energy (DOE). The DOE, National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), has initiated a strategic plan for the development of advanced technologies needed to design and build fossil fuel plants with very high efficiency and environmental performance.
