The 'JOIN'EM' project: Technologies for advanced joining and assembly processes for multi-materials

Global trends, amongst them climate change, process efficiency and operator safety requirements, are forcing industrial companies to manufacture lighter, stronger, environmentally friendly, performant and cheaper products. On another front, the manufacturing engineering sector aims to develop better-performing machine components and, in the transport sector, weight reduction is pursued. Together, these challenges facing the manufacturing industry as a whole are driving profound changes. To address them, the traditional approaches to manufacturing must be abandoned in favour of innovative breakthrough technologies.
