On Saturday, August 20,2003,76,219 spectators streamed into Denver's Invesco Field to watch the University of Colorado's football team take on rival Colorado State. During the third quarter, lightning lit up the southern sky and heavy rains began blanketing the stadium. When a public address announcement stated that the game was being suspended due to lightning, all players, coaches, and stadium personnel on the field immediately ran for cover.
