The month of April typically promises the arrival of spring, but not without an occasional backslide into the clutches of winter. Such was the case on April 10-11, when a rapidly intensifying, sprawling cyclone erupted over the central Plains. The storm delivered a swath of snowfall, measured in feet, across the north-central United States, and an enormous zone of damaging wind across the southwestern Plains.
