Richmond County improves water service with advanced metering technology

In North Carolina, Richmond County Water Department customers are spread out over 480 square miles, making reading - and re-reading - water meters difficult and time-consuming. To address that, the city has partnered with Sensus, a Xylem brand, to incorporate advanced water management into its system. The Richmond County project includes OMNI® and iPERL® meters, the FlexNet® communication system and data analytics, which will be managed by the Sensus Software as a Service (SaaS) solution. The smart water system will be phased in over a three-year period.
