Despite the relatively inexpensive price of water in the United States, the nation's brewing industry, including both large and small beer producers, is increasing in-plant water efficiency every year. Breweries have their eye on improving the sustainability of water in their supply chains and ultimately among their distributors and consumers. According to studies authored by the Beverage Industry Environmental Roundtable (BIER), water use efficiency in US breweries is up by more than 26 percent since 2006, the year the roundtable was formed.
