The characteristics and concentration of ions related to water chemistry are so individually important that I felt the topic deserved to be the subject of its own column. I think much of what I will outline is so directly associated with groundwater treatment that ignoring the topic-or providing only a short overview of the relationship of different types of ions, specifically cations and anions-would be a disservice to those of you who genuinely wish to enhance your knowledge of water treatment. So here we go.
