PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a purifying method using iron composite particles capable of decomposing organohalogen compounds included in soil/ground water, particularly, hardly decomposable aromatic organohalogen compounds in an efficient, continuous and economical manner. PSOLUTION: The noble metal-carrying iron composite used for purification of soil/ground water contaminated with organohalogen compounds consists of iron composite particles comprising α-Fe and magnetite and at least one kind of noble metal selected from ruthenium, rhodium and palladium, wherein the ratio of diffraction intensity of α-Fe (110) plane to magnetite (311) plane is 0.30 to 0.95 in X-ray diffraction spectrum of the noble metal-carrying iron composite, the Al content is 0.10 to 1.50 wt.%, the S content is 3,500 to 10,000 ppm and the content of noble metal is 0.01 to 5.0 wt.%.
