摘要

Floods are the costliest type of disaster inthe United States. While evaluating floodrisk remains a critical issue for the scientificcommunity, assessing the total impactacross complex urban systems is an evengreater challenge. During flood events,interconnected urban infrastructure likethe power grid, transportation network,drinking water and sewerage systems areall impacted, and experience cascadingfailures. We call this interconnected systemof systems the Urban Multiplex. Eventhough we have data about individualcomponents of the Urban Multiplex andan abundance of hydrologic forecasts, thisinformation is not yet connected in a waythat promotes clear, immediate insightabout existing and potential problems.
