Industry Urges EPA To Drop Studies On Chemicals That Pose No Human Risk

Industry groups are calling on EPA to avoid requiring human health risk assessments for chemicals that have modes of action that are not harmful to humans, arguing in comments on a recently released draft guidance that such assessments are unnecessary. The American Chemistry Council (ACC) "believes that lack of relevance to human health of a chemical mode of action is an important issue that needs to be clearly and specifically discussed [in the final guidance]," the group's Rick Becker wrote in Aug. 9 comments.
