摘要

EPA and silicone manufacturers have reached a long-awaited agreement to govern an environmental monitoring program for use in a future agency risk assessment of a widely used siloxane chemical after resolving a dispute over how the industry-funded program should report detection of the chemical below certain low levels specified by EPA. EPA and members of the Silicone Environmental Health & Safety Council (SEHSC) during a Dec. 12 meeting agreed on a final draft enforceable consent agreement (ECA) for the monitoring of octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4) at 14 sites. The agreement, which was originally planned for release last year, still requires review from top EPA and industry officials and a final version will not be ready for several months.
