EPA Poised To Propose New PFAS Drinking Water Utility Monitoring

EPA is poised to propose its latest requirement for drinking water utility monitoring of currently unregulated contaminants, including calling for detection of a wider range of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and at lower levels than previously monitored, after the policy cleared White House pre-publication review. The White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) completed its review of EPA's proposed fifth unregulated contaminants monitoring rule (UCMR 5) on Jan. 4, according to OMB's website. EPA had sent the proposed rule for mandatory review at the end of July.
