EPA's final Clean Water Act (CWA) plan for reviewing and revising technology-based effluent limits expands the agency's study of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), moves toward regulating some manufacturers, and details efforts to revise some power plant effluent limits while providing "flexibility" for oil and gas wastewater reuse. The final effluent limitations guidelines (ELG) Plan 14 announced in the Federal Register Jan. 11 includes the addition of the metal finishing sector to an ongoing study that has been focused on organic chemicals, plastics and synthetic fibers (OCPSF) manufacturers and formulators, airports, rug and textile manufacturers, and pulp and paper manufacturers.
