Yum Brands opens green outlet in Mass

The owner of some of the nation's most well-known names in fast food is opening its first "green" restaurant.rnYum Brands Inc. is the corporate name behind such brands as Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC.rnAnd the company has opened what it is calling an environmentally friendly KFC-Taco Bell restaurant in Northampton, Mass.rnIt is Yum Brands' first building seeking certification through the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program, administered by the U.S. Green Building Council.rn"The Northampton KFC-Taco Bell is part of our E3 initiative focusing on the energy, environment and economics of our buildings," said Jonathan Balas, a KFC architect who coordinated the project.
