On May 10, Kansai Electric Power Co. (EPC) reported that it successfully restarted Unit 4 at the Ohi nuclear power plant located in Ohi Town, Fukui Prefecture, Japan. The utility stated following start of power generation on May 11 that, “It is planned to increase the generator output in a stepwise manner while confirming the plant status at each power output.” The reactor was expected to begin full operations today, May 14. After Japan’s Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA) has completed final inspections, the unit will re-enter commercial service in early June.
