On November 20, China National Nuclear Corp. (CNNC) reported that construction crews completed the first major hoist at the construction site of the Xudabao nuclear power plant construction site in Liaoning Province, China. The company used a large crawler crane to hook, luff, and hoist the nuclear island core shaft for Xudabao 3 and set it into place in under three hours. CNNC noted the latest construction achievement was aided by new construction techniques to modularize core shaft components, which reduced total construction time while maintaining quality.
