On January 30, China National Nuclear Corp. (CNNC) announcedthat Unit 5 of the Fuqing nuclear power plant in FujianProvince, China officially entered commercial operation.Thus, the 1,000 MWe Fuqing 5 PWR becomes the world’sfirst domestically developed HPR-1000 (Hualong One) to entercommercial operation. “This marks that China has masteredindependent third-generation nuclear power technologyfollowing the United States, France, Russia and others,” thecompany said in a statement.
