On September 16, Hitachi announced that it was ending is Horizon Nuclear Power project to build new reactors at the Wylfa and Oldbury sites in the UK. The Horizon venture had proposed to construct two Advanced Boiling Water Reactors (ABWRs) at Wylfa Newydd in Wales along with possible future units at the Oldbury site in South Gloucestershire, England. In January 2019, Hitachi suspended the project, but there were previously indications that the company was considering the possibility of reactivating its plans if the right conditions were met. Just last month, company officials confirmed to the press that they were in discussions with the UK government to restart the project (UxW34-33).
