On July 31, the Georgia Public Service Commission (GAPSC) staff released a report regarding Southern Companysubsidiary Georgia Power’s cost and schedule forecast tocomplete Units 3 & 4 at the Vogtle nuclear power plant nearAugusta, GA. The PSC staff said that it does not believe thecompany’s current internally scheduled in-service dates ofMay 2021 and 2022 are achievable. Moreover, the regulatorybody said it will be “a challenge” for the company to bring thereactors online by the current state-approved scheduled in-servicedates of November 2021 and 2022.
