Post and Courier reported January 7 that Dominion Energyhas agreed to pay $192.5 million to settle investor-led lawsuitsin the wake of the failed Unit 2 & 3 expansion of the VCSummer nuclear power plant in South Carolina. The settlementwas filed in federal court in Columbia, SC, and isthought to be the largest settlement following a shareholderlawsuit in state history. It does not require Dominion officials to admit that their predecessors at SCANA did anything tomislead or harm investors over the course of the now-defunctnuclear project to build two Westinghouse AP1000s at VCSummer. Moreover, it will not resolve the potential criminalliability regarding the failed nuclear project. “We continue tocooperate with ongoing investigations and litigation involvingthe cancellation of the V.C. Summer nuclear construction project,and the company looks forward to a timely resolution ofall related matters,” said Dominion spokeswoman RhondaO’Banion.
