Complications on Rise for Minorities

Racial and ethnic disparities in severe maternal morbidity-life-threatening maternal complications associated with childbirth-have increased among U.S. women, according to an analysis of 20 years of hospital records by researchers, led by Stephanie A. Leonard, of the Stanford (Calif.) University School of Medicine. The study appears in Annals of Epidemiology.
