Playing unfair with Israel

Peace in the Middle East is being betrayed by Palestinian violence, American equivocation, and distaste for Binyamin Netanyahu. Yes, the Palestinians are now ruled by their own people. And, yes, the Israelis have a contractual peace on their two longest borders. But the Oslo experiment that tested Palestinian intentions is suffering from death by a thousand violations. President Clinton's much heralded accord at Wye has failed to break the impasse, and the United States is hiding its head in the sand. Worse, its reluctance to get tough with the Palestinians has only served to aggravate the violence.
