Hope on South China Sea

THE Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) reckons that the first draft of a code of conduct with China on the disputed South China Sea that is believed to be prospective for oil and gas might be finished by the end of the year, writes Amanda Battersby. Asean and China are moving to finish deliberations on the text of the code with the aim to "reduce tensions and the risk of accidents, misunderstandings and miscalculation".
