UGANDA has reportedly given oil companies operating the Lake Albert oilfields one month to decide their course of action after a sales and purchase agreement for a partial farm-down of equity by Anglo-Irish explorer Tullow Oil to partners Total and the China National Offshore Oil Corporation fell through in September. President Yoweri Museveni met company executives on 31 October to discuss issues holding up a final investment decision on the $10 billion Albertine field development and East African Crude Oil Pipeline, according to Robert Kasande, permanent secretary at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development. "We have given them a month to come back to us," Kasande this week told local media, hinting at a final investment decision by the end of April if an accord can be reached within the deadline.
