Small gas find for Aker BP

AKER BP has made a minor gas discovery with a wildcat at the Rumpetroll prospect near the earlier Frosk finds south of its operated Alvheim field in the Norwegian North Sea, writes Steve Marshall. The 24/9-13 probe and subsequent 24/9-13A appraisal well struck a gas column totaling 77 metres, of which 27 metres was deemed by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) to be of good reservoir quality, after being drilled by semi-submersible Deepsea Nordkapp in Aker BP-operated production licence 869. The Rumpetroll (Tadpole) find has a preliminary resource estimate of between 3.8 million and 10.7 million barrels of oil equivalent, according to the NPD, shy of a pre-drill estimate of between 45 million and 148 million boe.
