THE Petronas-led Kebabangan Petroleum Operating Company (KPOC) has hit Malaysian contractor Malaysia Marine & Heavy Engineering (MMHE) with a 125.1 million ringgit (US$30.7 million) claim alleging breach of contract relating to the supply of certain valves for its Kebabangan field development off Sabah, writes Amanda Battersby. MMHE said that it had a received a notice of arbitration involving two contracts - one from September 2011 that awarded fabrication of the Kebabangan topsides to Sime Darby and the novation contract of March 2012 following MMHE's acquisition of Sime Darby's oil and gas business.
