What would we think about a technology that could annually save thousands of lives, reduce fossil fuel use by more than a billion gallons, cut greenhouse gas emissions by a comparable amount and add more than a billion hours of productive human time for purposes other than driving in congested traffic, among other benefits? This technology is not a distant dream but is well on the way to development and deployment on the nation's highways and roads within a decade. This was the topic of the inaugural Transportation Technology Transfer Initiative conference.
