GUIDED AUGER BORING IN THE UK

Perco operations director Andy Fallon claims that the company was one of the first contractors in the UK to introduce guided auger boring, having witnessed its successful use across Germany. "The first system we introduced was the Bohrtec BM400 auger boring rig, which proved to be a high quality piece of equipment, models of which are still in use today," he says. Germany's Bohrtec manufactures the BM400 as a rig for placing pipes from a minimum internal diameter of 1 50mm to a max outer diameter of 620mm. Once the launch and reception pits are sunk the rig is installed and the pilot rods with an optical passage are jacked forward into to the ground.
