Modeling intra-household interactions and group decision-making

We are very pleased to present the inaugural edition of the annual Special Issue of Transportation comprising selected papers presented at the Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board (TRB). The publication of this Special Issue signifies the beginning of a new partnership between Transportation and the TRB, a division of the National Research Council, which serves the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Engineering in the United States. This Partnership builds on TRB's commitment to disseminate cutting edge research and state-of-the-art solutions in transportation to a worldwide audience. The partnership involves two standing committees of TRB's Division A (Technical Activities); the Committee on Traveler Behavior and Values (ADB10) and the Committee on Travel Demand Forecasting (ADB40). Both serve as forums for sharing, disseminating, and promoting cutting edge research in the analysis, understanding, modeling, and forecasting of travel behavior and demand. Every year, they receive about 120 papers to be considered for presentation at the TRB Annual Meeting held each January in Washington, D.C. Many of these papers are also considered for publication in the Transportation Research Record, The Journal of the Transportation Research Board. About 30% of the papers submitted for presentation consideration are published in the Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board. With the launch of the new partnership with Transportation, a selection of five or six papers that address an emerging common theme of interest will be published in a special issue of Transportation on an annual basis.
