Dearman starts next-gen liquid nitrogen engine trials

Dearman Engine has announced that it has begun on-vehicle testing of its second generation zero-emission transport refrigeration system. The system is powered by a liquid nitrogen fuelled Dearman engine, which replaces the standard diesel engine, and which produces no NOx or particulate matter (PM). Generation 2 is a redesigned version of Dearman's first model, which began testing early last year. The redesign is said to be 30% lighter, 30% smaller, yet 30% more efficient than its predecessor. Dearman has worked with its technology partner Hubbard Products to reconfigure the refrigeration system, including downsizing components for better efficiency and performance.
