The traffic commissioners for Great Britain have launched a consultation on whether the financial resources test for restricted operator licence holders needs to be changed. While the levels are set by EU legislation for standard licence holders, the traffic commissioners for Great Britain set the level for restricted operators - those who only carry their own goods or run a maximum of two passenger transport vehicles. Resources are checked at the time of licence application, but can also be checked at any other stage. The level for restricted operators has not changed since 2004, and is £3,100 for the first vehicle and £1,700 for each additional vehicle. Richard Turfitt, senior traffic commissioner, said: "We've taken a conscious decision not place any additional burdens on restricted operators, especially following the period of economic downturn in 2008, it's right to review [that] now.
