The first part of this article traced the sad state of Perth's suburban railway in the late 1970s and into the 1980s. Refer map in TA 11/05, p.335. The author joined Transperth Rail Operations at the end of 1989 to become embroiled in the day-to-day drama of the creation of today's modern and expanding Perth suburban railway.
