Ship docking module(SDM): design, construction, and evaluation

摘要

This paper covers the design and construction of the Ship Docking Modules(SDMs)being operated by Hvide Marine Incorporated of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The concept, originated by Erik Hvide, was granted to Elliott Bay Design Group of Seattle, Washington and carried forward To a completed design. The stability and seakeeping capabilities of the SDMs will be compared to the more standard Tractor and ship-handling tugs. The construction cost of the SDMs will be compared to other Types of tugs of similar horsepower.
