The dose rates outside the 9977 shipping package under NCT and HAC with two content containers each containing 4,400 grams of plutonium are below the 10 CFR 71 limits (200 mrem/hr at the surface under NCT and 1 rem/hr at 1 m under HAC. The 9977 package with two containers each holding 4.4 kg of plutonium metal complies with the federal regulations for non-exclusive use shipment.
