These two books have the interests of children in cities and the role of planning at their core. Cities for Children focuses on the everyday situation of the growing number of children who live in poverty in the cities of Asia, Africa, and Latin America, and takes as its starting point the 1989 UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which by 1997 had been ratified by 191 countries worldwide.
