Another new Channel Tunnel freight service

Following the new services already introduced this year carrying beer from Padova in Italy to Tilbury, and continuous welded rail from Scunthorpe to Germany (Duisburg and Hamburg), a third new freight started running on 10 April carrying containers for CMA CGM Logistics between London Gateway and Duisburg in Germany. At Duisburg there are connections to Poland and via the "new Silk Road" to China. The first train carried some containers for China. Initially the train will run once a week, leaving London on Tuesdays and returning on Thursdays, rising to twice weekly from mid-May, but may eventually reach six return trips a week. The train, which is exceptionally long, is operated by GB Railfreight in the UK and Channel Tunnel then by Lineas between Calais and Duisburg.
