The All-Russia Thermal Engineering Institute Turns 85

摘要

The All-Russia (formerly All-Union) Thermal Engineering Institute (VTI) was established on July 13, 1921, "for systematic study and development of vital practical questions in thermal engineering and for solving related technical and economic problems." The Institute has worked out scientific principles and made elevated and then supercritical steam conditions, district heating systems with combined generation of electricity and heat, burning of the heaviest domestically produced fuels in boilers, water chemistry regimes and methods of water treatment, automation of equipment operation using electronics, and many other technical ideas that have been implemented in Russia and abroad objects of commercial use.
