Advansa, headquartered in the Netherlands, produces polyester staple fibre and filament yam, intended for two markets. Standard products, intended for nonwovens and apparel, are produced in Turkey (Adana). Brand name and special-purpose products: heat regulation, anti-mite, and humidity absorption such as the Suprelle Fresh & Tencel (see over), are produced in Germany (Uentrop). The company belongs to a Turkish holding, Haci Omer Sabanci, and the last two letter of the company's name (namely "sa") is a reminder that Advansa is part of a group commonly referred to as Sabanci. The industrialist has sales offices in France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Turkey. Previously, Advansa also had a PET, PTA* and preformed article activity, which it sold to the Spanish company Seda (Barcelona) at the end of 2006. Advansa was born of a joint venture between Sabanci and Dupont de Nemours in the year 2000 concerning the polyester department of the American manufacturer which sold its parts in this activity to the Turkish group in 2004. In 2007, Advansa developed a polyester staple fibre in lengths compatible with carding constraints. In partnership with the German spinners Stohr and the Italian spinners Grignasco, Advansa developed CoolMax yarns, combining wool and polyester. The launch of the new and exciting Suprelle Fresh & Tencel fibre with Lenzing is expected to stimulate the relatively stable bedding market. In the words of Jean-Christophe Rouyer, head of branded fibre business for duvets on pillows in Europe, "we have a research and development department, and focus on partnerships with other materials manufacturers where we can contribute with our knowledge of the bedding market".
