A Productive Partnership: Mushroom Council and USDA

Every few months, Mushroom Council holds a board meeting to discuss programs, research and other initiatives. Sitting at the table are staff, Council board members, interested parties and a representative from the US Department of Agriculture, Specialty Crops Program, Promotion and Economics Division (USDA).Why is a representative from the USDA at the table? The short answer is that the Mushroom Council is a research and promotion program for the mushroom industry, authorized by an Act of Congress. This Act requires the USDA to have oversight of the Council.
