Fault lines are the invisible but potent divisions, primarily within states, that are the hard edges of societal differences that exist as potential causes of violence. On the Fault Line analyses numerous examples, drawn largely but not entirely from Africa, and seeks to propose mechanisms and policies by which such fault lines might best be managed and their effects contained.
