Healthy Watersheds throughtout Minnesota. Designing a New Division within the Department of Natural Resources to Manage Water, Biodiversity, and Ecosystem Services

These are times of extraordinary change and opportunity for Minnesotas natural resources. Minnesota is experiencing significant changes in our ecology and economy. Population growth, development, and a changing climate are reshaping the natural resource base. Shifts in the energy, manufacturing, retail, and recreational economies are reshaping the conservation financial resource base. Shifts in recreation participation patterns and increasing demands on the States General Fund are reducing traditional sources of conservation funding. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Strategic Conservation Agenda 2009-2013 describes these trends and their anticipated impacts on Minnesotas natural resources and our work.
